Student Work
The following examples of work showcase Year 10 student drawings, mixed media and portrait painting artworks based on the human form.
Students developed their observational skills and practiced their drawing of anatomy, focusing on proportions, and the dynamic nature of the human body through life drawing, Drapery was investigated using chalk and oil pastels, with the focus on tone and form.
Students then began to build on their underwater photography skills, whilst exploring the iridescent quality of water, reflections and shadows and the transparency of drapery along with the human form under water.
The student-centred enquiry learning was focused on reflection, composition, the human form and water. It demonstrates the significant growth from drawing skills, to photography skills and later to mixed media skills building a sensitive, layered composition.
Students then began to investigate the concept of portraiture using acrylic on canvas with textural mediums, glazes, brushes and or spatula’s to achieve their desired result of realism, semi-abstract or expressionistic portrait works.
